Statement of Faith

I could just recite the Apostle’s Creed here! I do believe in God the Father, who created heaven and earth in 6 literal days. I believe in Jesus Christ who was born of the virgin Mary, lived a perfect life, was crucified, buried and resurrected on the 3rd day. I believe Jesus ascended into heaven and is coming back again one day, just like he said!  I believe in following his instructions: Communion “In Remembrance” of Him, Baptism as a picture of burying the old nature and rising to new life in Christ. I believe in the Trinity even though the Bible doesn’t use the term but teaches, “God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.” I believe in the inerrancy of Scripture – that God communicated His truths to us through unique personalities and that the original manuscripts were His full intention and that no translational errors over the millennia have diminished His message.  I believe the Church is the Bride of Christ and and as such, always look for what unites us…not what divides us.  As such, I take no stand on “pre-trib, post-trib, pre-wrath” etc. Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father.  Forgiveness of sins is only through Him!  God has a purpose for His creation and only through Him do we find meaning in this life and in the one to come.

This podcast is a recording of a message I delivered in 2014 based on the Apostle’s Creed and summarizes my core beliefs.

This next podcast is a follow-up to the “I Believe: Creed” message and discusses “errors” in the Bible. For example, Matthew quoted a prophecy in Matthew 9:9 that he attributed to Jeremiah.  It was actually Zechariah that said it!  What do we do with that?  Does that mean the Scriptures are unreliable? No – I reaffirm my belief in the inerrancy of Scripture…that God’s story remains uncorrupted.  (Matthew was a flawed human being just like me.  God used him…just like God uses us.  The point remained the same: “There was a prophecy in the Old Testament and it came true…just like God said!”  Matthew misspoke, but that didn’t change anything about God!)
